Viaduc of Cize-Bolozon
A marvel of railway heritage
Very nice 19th century civil engineering work, this railway and road bridge spans the Ain and connects the municipalities of Bolozon and Corveissiat. Reconstructed after the war (1950), it consists of eleven arcades on two levels And 273 m long. In 1865, the General Council of Ain wanted to create a railway line between Bourg-en-Bresse and La Cluse.
To pass the Ain, the choice is made in the municipality of Cize. The works began in 1870 and required important work at the foundation level requiring excavations at the bottom of the river. "
